'Canelo doesnt know the facts' - Ryan Garcia hits back after Canelo Alvarez suggests lack of disc

Ryan Garcia has responded to comments from Canelo Alvarez after his former stablemate appeared to suggest that lack of discipline contributed to his split from trainer Eddy Reynoso.

Canelo remains in the gym with Reynoso - a coach who has trained him since his pro debut as a 15-year-old - while Garcia announced last month that he has now joined up with Joe Goossen.

The youngster cited the lack of time Reynoso was able to dedicate to him as a reason for the split, something Canelo has spoken out to contest.

"I don’t know what happened," Canelo told ESNews.

"He said he wants more time, right? Eddy has all the time for him.

"He was here Christmas, New Year, everything for him when he fought Luke Campbell.

"Then, what happened? Something with him, I'm not sure.

"Eddy has time for all the fighters, you ask everybody.

"If you're disciplined, if you have the time to put in the gym and train, Eddy is always gonna be there."

Garcia only fought once in 2021 - an early January win over Luke Campbell.

He then spent time out the ring due to mental health issues and suffered a wrist injury which prevented his return later in the year.

This is not the first time Canelo has spoken out about his concerns over Garcia, as he previously warned the youngster was ‘wasting a lot of time and wasting his talent’.

He is now due to return against Emmanuel Tagoe on April 9.

After seeing these latest remarks from Canelo about the Reynoso split, Garcia has taken to social media to respond.

He tweeted: "Canelo doesn’t know the facts.

"The first camp I had with Eddy went great, then everything went bad.

"He only showed up two weeks before Fonseca fight and that’s when I first asked my manager to talk to him about finding a new trainer.

"Vergil Ortiz left because Eddy never showed.

"Frank Sanchez had a fight where Eddy only showed up the day of the fight, so ask Canelo to explain that!

"Let’s stop the back and forth and focus on the fights at hand.

"By the way, I've got nothing but respect for Eddy, it’s just the truth."

He later added: "The truth also is that’s not even the main reason I left [and] decided to part ways.

"Canelo knows why I’m just going to keep it to myself and focus on the fight I have."

The truth also is that’s not even the main reason I left deciders to part ways. Canelo knows why I’m just going to keep it to my self and Focus on the fight I have.
